Hope street is full of interesting eateries. This photo is from 'Not Just Snacks'. This Indian restaurant is low key when it comes to decor but has home cooked Indian food.   

Excursion: Falmouth

Falmouth is about an hour and a half drive from Providence. You can make a stop on the way at the Buzzards Bay Canal enjoy a walk or bike along the canal. If it is lunch time, eat at Krua Thai. It is a small place but serves fabulous Thai food.  

Enjoy the beautiful beach or take a walk on Main road. 

 


If it is tea time, you can pop in at the Tea room on Main road.

Evenings are a nice time to take a walk on the marina

The Puritan and the Indian

While trying to find an optician downtown we stumbled on the Federal Reserve building that is now converted to The Dorrance restaurant. The close up is of the famous sculpture named Puritan and the Indian by Daniel Chester French.

Choices Choices

Whole foods close to Brown University has this fascinating variety of tiny pieces of desserts arranged in neat little rows. I like to visit the bakery area just to see these beautifully decorated pieces.

The cemetery we were told is a good place to bike or to go for a morning walk. The notice at the entrance says that you can do slow biking or walking. No speed biking, roller skates allowed. The landscaping is beautiful. I have to go back to explore it more.

Biking in Providence

We started slow by trying to bike along Blackstone Boulevard. We are excited to try the East Bay Bike Path. Here is some information about this beautiful biking heaven and some photos posted by biking enthusiasts.

Summer is here

We were quite excited to see bike paths and overall biking enthusiasm in Providence. That was one of the reasons we decided to select Providence over other suburban places in MA. We have finally got our own comfort hybrids and are all set for the biking season.

Providence has a lot of really good bike shops. we visited Legend on Broad street, Providence bicycles on Branch Ave, and Castor's off Hope street. We had a fantastic experience at all three places. 

WaterFire

WaterFire, the award-winning sculpture by Barnaby Evans installed on the three rivers of downtown Providence is a "powerful work of art and a moving symbol of Providence’s renaissance." The photo shows the eastern end of the WaterFire’s over eighty sparkling bonfire installations.
